‘Julius Caesar’ Interrupted Again in NY’s Central …

The final performance of the Public Theater’s production of William Shakespeare’s “Julius Caesar” on Sunday in New York’s Central Park was interrupted by a protester angry about the play’s depiction of the title character who resembled President Donald Trump, The Daily Beast reported.

“Goebbels would be proud! Goebbels would be proud!” a man shouted during the play. That interruption was followed a few minutes later, just before the scene depicting Caesar’s assassination, by another man who ran onstage and shouted “We’re sick of your bull…t!”

A similar protest occurred on Friday night during the play, which draws parallels between the Roman emperor and Trump. During that interruption, the protester shouted, “The blood of Steve Scalise is on your hands,” according to the New York Daily News.

House Majority Whip Steve Scalise was shot last Wednesday at a baseball practice of GOP congressmen and staffers in Alexandria, Va., by a gunman who was a harsh critic of Trump and who reportedly made sure he was targeting Republicans before opening fire.

There has been particular criticism of the production’s assassination scene. Delta Air Lines and the Bank of America have withdrawn sponsorship from the Public Theater due to the controversy, The Daily Beast reported.
