Sheriff Clarke Withdraws Acceptance of DHS Position

Milwaukee Sheriff David Clarke, a critic of the Black Lives Matter movement and supporter of President Donald Trump, has withdrawn himself from consideration for the role of deputy secretary at the Department of Homeland Security. Craig Peterson, an adviser to Clarke, said that Clarke notified Secretary of Homeland Security John Kelly of his decision to withdraw his acceptance for the DHS position on Friday. “Sheriff Clarke is 100 percent committed to the success of President Trump and believes his skills could be better utilized to promote the president’s agenda in a more aggressive role,” Peterson told the Washington Post. Trump and Clarke met in Wisconsin on Tuesday and discussed other roles he could fill to help advance the Trump agenda. Free Beacon
